Welcome to Turtle Creek Reservoir

For the fishing enthusiast, Turtle Creek is stocked with bluegill, redear sunfish, black crappie, largemouth bass and channel catfish.
Hunters can enjoy the 1,550-acre reservoir’s seasonal population of geese and ducks. All sporting activities are subject to Turtle Creek rules and regulations, as well as Indiana State and Federal Fish and Wildlife laws.
A nominal user fee is charged at the reservoir. Hoosier Energy and Turtle Creek Reservoir is committed to providing a safe, quality recreational facility for the public. Your cooperation is appreciated, and we hope you enjoy your visit.
Shakamak State Park and the Greene Sullivan State Forest, along with local campgrounds, are nearby and provide overnight camping areas.
History
The 1,550-acre Turtle Creek Reservoir was created in 1980 to provide cooling water for Hoosier Energy’s Merom Generating Station and was opened to the public for fishing in 1982. Since that time, Turtle Creek has matured into a popular regional fishing and waterfowl hunting recreation spot.

Hunting Hours of Operation:

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday: 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
